Scott talks with Joshua about Living Adaptive and his new podcast, This Is A True Story. The 2 of them talk about finding humor in the midst of struggle and discrimination, why people without disabilities know better what terms people with them need to use to describe themselves, and why Jake Paul is an obnoxious genius.

Joshua mentions a few Adventure Mind initiatives in the early planning stages.
In this episode, I give some back story on the origins of Adventure Mind and what I want it to become. I talk about the struggle that the Holiday Season is for me, and why I believe we (humanity) need each other more than we ever have. Separateness is an illusion. We are all connected in some way, shape, or form. As we grow in our resiliency, we can help others grow in theirs. Seeking adversity of our own choosing and cultivating courage by facing our fears is how humanity grows stronger. This is how we build the Adventure Mind.
Kevin and Joshua discuss what NLP is, what relationship it has to classical hypnosis, and what types of powerful change each can create in people who use it. The 2 also discuss the power of belief, athletic performance boosts, and how politicians, news outlets, and religious organizations use NLP principles to influence thousands.
Josh and Joshua have been friends for more than 26 years. During the earlier part of their friendship, the 2 of them spent a considerable amount of time involved in a notably conservative expression of Evangelical Christianity. In this episode, they discuss some of their common experiences. Talk about their current thoughts on matters of faith, and explore what it means to walk away from the religion of their youth.
Tanner and Joshua have one of the most unfiltered conversations on the podcast yet. Topics range between Tanner’s athletic accomplishments, purchasing beer while blind, finding humor in the chaos that is American politics in 2020, and a myriad of other rabbit trails. This episode is not for the squeamish or easily offended. It *is* for those who want to witness a conversation between 2 blind champions from different sports swap stories and find out whether it is ok for visually impaired people to order their own nachos.
Tiffany and Joshua talk about fighting, training, the comradery of martial artists, and their favorite ninja turtle. They also talk about their mutual love of surfing and the Muay Thai class Tiffany taught at Studio 540, the gym where Joshua used to train. Tiffany also shares some of her poetry.
Joshua and Jason share their mutual love of martial arts training and their common belief in the value of chosen adversity. They also discuss a range of issues, including police brutality, the War on Drugs, and what purpose the DEA serves. Jason also opens up about his own family history, and the book he is currently writing on some difficult events that inspired his father to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Josh’s positivity is immediately apparent to anyone who meets him, and it comes through in this conversation. He attributes much of his positivity to the healing power of the ocean and how fulfilling his life is because of surfing. It is because of his love for the ocean that he has become an advocate for sustainable practices in manufacturing and fishing. Josh doesn’t shy away from darker parts of his story, however. He opens up about his prior addiction to pain relievers and the part that it played in his near death after suffering total kidney and liver failure just ahead of the amputation of both his legs. Josh also shares about the power of music as a creative outlet and how blessed he has been to be able to continue in music as a percussionist.
